Neelam Jain, Founder and Creative Head of Geroo Jaipur writes, I was always a designer at heart. As a teenager, I would cut out my mom's old sarees and sew them into dresses. With encouragement from family and friends, I took up a course in textile designing and that’s where I learned art like Bandhani, Hand-Block printing, Batik, hand-painting, and various types of embroidery. Eventually, my love for hand-crafted products started emerging.
My passion for hand-craft and handloom led to exploring Rajasthan visiting the remotest of places where some of the mesmerizing hand-craft and hand-embroidery were done. Places where women living in remote areas earn their bread butter by doing amazing hand embroidery. I incorporated those embroideries and woven fabrics into my designs. Selling them was a bit of a challenge as they are expensive since they involve a lot of time and labor but fortunately there are aesthetes who have a special love for hand-crafted things and they are willing to pay the price.
Selling online helps to overcome these challenges as it gives a bigger platform. So I decided to take a step forward and accelerate my selling journey by moving online.
